Dr. Hans Fisher — grandfather of our own Jeremy Fisher — will be sharing his incredible story of surviving the Holocaust. He was one of 937 passengers aboard the MS St. Louis, a ship that left Germany in 1939 to escape escalating anti-semitism. Tragically, neither Cuba nor the US granted refuge to the ship's passengers, who all were forced to return to Europe on the eve of WWII.
Interestingly, the MS St. Louis was named for the city of St. Louis. As such, we will also welcome a special guest from the office of the mayor of the city of St. Louis, who will present newly discovered documents highlighting this connection.
Come hear this amazing story of resilience and hope, and play a role in the continued remembrance of the Holocaust.
